Community Gatherings
Monthly, bi-weekly and seasonal programs, plus … work weekends!
At Alcyon there are a variety of ways to practice silence, engage in soul conversations and join in the gift of shared labor. Please join us!
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS 2026
First Friday Quiet Days, 9 am - 1 pm
FEB 6 - MAR 6 - APR 3 - MAY 1 - JUN 5 - JUL 3
This is a monthly invitation to spend three hours in silence in community. Quiet Days begin with a poem and twenty minutes of silence, then guests spend the rest of the time in silence wherever they choose: walking the cove, the trails or the labyrinth, or in guest rooms. At noon we come together for simple soup and bread and conversation in response to Simone Weil's question: "How is it with your soul?"
Bible Study with Joan Jordan Grant
alternate Fridays (11am-12:30pm), beginning JAN 30
Our Scripture passages will focus on selected Common Lectionary readings for the following Sunday. Bring a Bible or use one provided by The Alcyon Center. Questions? Contact Joan.
Soul Friends for Women with Joan Jordan Grant
last Sundays monthly 2-4 pm
Soul Friends is an invitation for women to come together around a small table of light to listen deeply to each other’s words in silence. Sharing without comment, dialogue, or questioning can be beautiful and spare. Stories told are held in trust by all. After the them is introduced, each woman finds an experience in her life where the theme comes alive for her. No one is called upon to speak, but we are all enriched when each woman shares her words of truth.
Readings on the theme of the month are sent out before we gather. Contact Joan to receive readings. No registration required/no fee. Please do let us know that you plan to come to help us prepare the room. Donations to Alcyon gratefully received.
COMMUNITY WORK WEEKENDS 2026
