Companions are those individuals and groups who support the vision of The Alcyon Center and feel the importance of providing a place for emerging conversations about our lives and communities. Our Companions actively hold us in prayer, talk with others about our work, come for events and programs when possible, and financially support us through an annual gift. Companions receive our email newsletters and the semi-annual journal Bench Markings. Please contact us and ask for the Supporting Companions form. We welcome donations directly to The Alcyon Center.
We welcome Supporters who wish to make a financial contribution to help underwrite programs, provide scholarships and encourage new programming.
If you would like your donation to be tax-deductible, please make your donation to our fiscal sponsor: Somesville Union Meeting House, UCC, P.O. Box 96, Mount Desert, ME 04660; Designation: The Alcyon Center Fund. We tithe a portion of these donations to the Somesville Church. Donations directly to The Alcyon Center are used entirely to support our programs and upkeep.
Residential Companions are individuals who wish to share in the inner and outer life of The Alcyon Center and in its mission of hospitality, teaching and prayer. Living in the log cabin or the main house, they participate in the life of the Center with its daily rhythm of work and prayer, and take on some of the responsibilities for the daily work of running the Center. Residential companionships may last from one month to a year.
